Stretching is good for you

Stretching is good....and that is just what I am trying to do with my pastel paintings. I have wanted to do more abstract pastel paintings and today was my chance during Linda Packard's class pastel class.
 i first started with a sketch of the photo of a seascape. I painted it in with watercolor. I then made some swaths of pastel on the paper so I could react to the color. The result is one that I think is very abstract.
